So Far, So Good

Reading is the foundation for building a more meaningful life.

My favorite post so far this year (granted, there aren’t that many yet) is by Eric Sim “What Education We Need in 2016” and points out the huge gap in today’s education system between what is taught and what still needs to be taught.

His big idea (#BigIdeas2016) is to have an Institute of Life (IOL) that kids attend online every month, and in person once every year. They still go to school, but IOL would help them with the skills they need to “live a more interesting life.” For example, here’s #1 on the list: Schools prepare you for jobs, IOL prepares you for life.

Education is a foundation for living, and reading is a foundation for education. Not coincidentally, reading is also our focus at A&M for 2016. Stay tuned.
